Activity: Organizing/Helping the Soup Kitchen
Type: Service
Supervisor: Mr.Chedburn
Time Spent: 3 hours
For the end of our M.Y.P program, fellow student Camille Chedburn and I went to lend a hand to the organized Soup Kitchen in Paris a school service activity organized by teacher Mr. Chedburn and adored the experience! As the program joining ISP to the Armee du Salut organization (who organized daily Soup Kitchen and other service activities in France), Camille and I decided to take things in our own hands and give ourselves and other Grade 11 students the possibility to take part in this activity as well. We therefor took the time, with the help of Mr.Chedburn, to contact the association and organize weekly groups of students to help from 6.00 to 8.00 at the Soup Kitchen organized in Stalingrad.
Personally, I attended the Soup Kitchen for the first time this year last night along with some fellow students (organized seperately from the school trips planned weekly on Wednesday nights) and remembered what a great feeling it is to help out those in need, and especially how easy it can be to help a few Parisian S.D.Fs (Sans Domicile Fixe meaning homeless) get through another cold night by serving them coffee or tea ! Definetly an experience i enjoyed participating in again and hopefully not for the last time of the year, as I am already planning new trips to help!
